10/100/1000 Copper to Optical Conversion nTAP

Summary

The 10/100/1000 Copper to Optical Conversion nTAP offers a standard
gigabit copper input connection and a standard gigabit copper output connection. An analyzer connects to the nTAP through either the gigabit optical full-duplex analyzer output connection or the gigabit copper full-duplex analyzer output connection the TAP provides. The optical analyzer output is available with SFP modules that convert data from a
copper link to an SX, LX or ZX optical fiber analysis interface.

The 10/100/1000 Copper to Optical Conversion nTAP replicates the copper signal and sends one signal back to the network via the copper output. The other signal is either sent to the copper full-duplex analyzer or converted into an optical signal and sent to the optical full-duplex analyzer. The 10/100/1000 Copper to Optical Conversion nTAP can support link speeds up to 2000 Mbps.

As with all nTAPs, the 10/100/1000 Copper to Optical Conversion nTAPs are passive, full-duplex monitoring devices, offering complete visibility into your network regardless of traffic levels. By permanently installing nTAPs, you never need to bring the link down to attach an analyzer or other device. nTAPs work with the leading security and network management tools, so you can quickly and easily deploy them into your network.

All copper nTAPs are transparent, which means you can monitor your critical links without data stream interference. Even if power to the nTAP fails, copper nTAPs guarantee continuous network data flow. 10/100/1000 Copper to Optical Conversion nTAPs also work well with redundant-enabled devices. So if one side of the nTAP link should fail, the other side can take action by signaling the connected device to switch to a redundant link.

Compatibility

Copper to Optical Conversion nTAPs are compatible with:

  • Network/protocol analyzers
  • Security monitoring devices
  • Forensic tools
  • Remote monitoring appliances
  • RMON probes, and more

Technology

  • Copper to Optical Conversion nTAPs support full-duplex passive monitoring up to Gigabit speed anywhere on the network
  • nTAPs can be permanently deployed without interfering with network performance or introducing a point of failure
  • Copper nTAPs guarantee continuous network data flow, even if power to the nTAP fails
  • Since nTAPs are not addressable devices, they and the monitoring devices connected to them cannot be the target of a hack or virus attack

nTAP Advantages

  • Error Packets Passed Through
  • Compact Design
  • Failover Redundancy Compatible
  • Economical to Install
  • Meets International RF Emission Standards
